Treatment Methods

Chattanooga Radial Shockwave RPW2

Shockwave therapy, also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), is a non-invasive medical treatment that uses shockwaves to promote healing and reduce pain in various musculoskeletal conditions.

Treatment is performed directly on the skin, but is non-invasive. The time alloted for a specific treatment will depend on the area and depth of the tissue being treated. This will normally fall within 2-4 minutes per area treated.

Benefits include:

Short treatment time (a few minutes), precise and targeted application, results in a few treatments 3-6, non-invasive technology, alternative to medication.

Application area includes but not limited to:

Myofascial trigger points, disorders of tendon insertions, pain and inflammation in orthopaedic conditions, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, golf elbow

Lightforce High Intensity Lase Therapy

Laser therapy is a clinically proven effective adjacent treatment modality in the physical therapy practice intended for the relief of painful muscles and joints associated with acute and chronic tissue injuries. It is also indicated for helping relieve pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis through its ability to increase localized blood flow.

What is the purpose of laser therapy?

Laser therapy, or photobiomodulation, is the process of photons entering the tissue and interacting with the cytochrome c complex within the cell mitochondria. The result of this interaction, and the point of conducting laser therapy treatments, is the biological cascade of events that leads to an increase in cellular metabolism (promoting tissue healing) and a decrease in pain. Laser therapy is used to treat acute and chronic conditions as well as post-activity recovery. It is also used as another option to prescription drugs, a tool to prolong the need for some surgeries, as well as pre and post-surgery treatment to help control pain.

Acute Conditions
Laser therapy has been shown to be effective to help treat acute conditions. Bringing pain under control quickly helps the healing process and usually helps promote better outcomes.
Chronic Conditions
With chronic conditions, research has shown that therapy lasers can be used to help combat persistent pain and promote circulation to damaged tissues. It can be a powerful, non-pharmaceutical solution to help reduce pain without the side effects of medication.

Post-Activity Recovery
LightForce® Therapy Lasers can be found on the sidelines of many pro, college, and Olympic sports teams across the United States and many parts of Europe and Asia. Laser therapy has been shown to be effective at improving post-activity recovery times and reducing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).
Application area includes but not limited to:
TMJ, neck pain, shoulder pain, elbow & joint pain, gibromyalgia, low back pain, sciatica, arthritis, sports injuries, soft tissue damage, plantar fasciitis

High RF INDIBA

INDIBA® is an electromagnetic current which is delivered to the body via electrodes at a radiofrequency of 448kHz. This current gradually increases the treated tissue temperature. The temperature rise triggers the body’s natural regeneration, repair and defence responses. INDIBA® is generally safe to use. INDIBA® is approved by specific country’s regulatory bodies, it is CE marked and FDA approved.

The use of INDIBA® improves recovery and reduces pain. The body’s natural repair process will be accelerated and with INDIBA, treatment of an injury can begin in the acute phase; reducing pain, swelling and speeding up recovery. INDIBA® enhances cellular and tissue function, increases body metabolism and energy, relaxes muscles and flushes out toxins, providing a unique relaxation and detox experience for the mind and body.

INDIBA® can be used to speed up recovery from conditions below, result may vary for different individuals: Musculoskeletal • Osteoarthritis • Low back pain • Neck pain • Bursitis • Tendinopathy • Haematoma • Fractures • Muscle tears • Sprains and strains.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is the base of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The theory and practice of acupuncture started in China, where it first started as sharpened stones and bones around 6000 BCE.

Acupuncture balances the flow of energy, also known as chi (chee), that flow through meridians (acupuncture points) in the body. The energy flow is re-balanced by inserting needles into these specific meridians. And by stimulating nerves, muscles and connective tissues, it can ease pain.

Acupuncture is used to treat variety of diseases including respiratory disorders, digestive system abnormalities, muscle disorders, gynaecological disorders, endocrine disorders, and nervous system disorders.

CUPPING

Cupping involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This suction aids the flow of chi in the body and improves the flow of energy to facilitate healing.

Cupping can improve overall blood flow and boost cell repair. It also helps the body to form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue. This relieves muscle tension and eases pain, restoring balance within the body helping body’s resistance to pathogens.

Cupping can be used to treat variety of conditions including lower back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headache and migraine, knee pain, lumba disc herniation, cervical spondylosis, brachialgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyspnea, shingles, acne and facial paralysis.

TUI-NA

Tui-Na makes use of rhythmic compression techniques along different energy channels of the body and applies pressure to meridians and groups of muscles and nerves to remove blockages within the body. This helps the body to bring itself back into balance, which helps the flow of qi throughout thebody, thus, facilitating the healing process.

Tui-na can be used to reduce the pain of neck, shoulders, hips, back, arms, thighs, legs and ankle disorders. It is also beneficial to arthritis, sciatica, muslce spasms, insomnia, constipation, headaches and disorders related to digestive, respiratory and reproductive systems.

MOXIBUSTION

Moxibustion involves the burning of mugwort and is often used with acupuncture to promote healing. It strengthens the blood and stimulates the flow of qi.

Moxibustion expels cold and warms the meridians, making smoother flow of blood and qi. Thus, best used to treat people who have a cold or stagnant health condition.

Moxibustion can be used solely or with acupuncture by first inserting a needle into an acupoint (spots on the body suitable for acupuncture) and placing a moxa on the tip of the needle, which is then ignited to create heat.

Moxa is used to treat wide range of diseases including respiratory disorders, digestive system abnormalities, muscle disorders, gynaecological disorders, endocrine disorders, and nervous system disorders.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese medicine is prescribed by our TCM practitioners and it is used to normalise imbalanced energy within the body. Although most of them are plant based, some include minerals or animal products.

Different herbs have different properties and the practitioner diagnoses the patient, taking into account of the patient’s Yin and Yang and the elements that govern different organs.

Herbal Medicine can treat variety of diseases including respiratory disorder, gynaecological and gastrointestinal disorders, sleep disorder, endocrine disorders, urologic disorders and muscle pain.

Needle Knife Acupuncture

Needle knife acupuncture uses needles with sharpened tips that look like small knives and is used to relieve tension pain on soft tissue injuries and can help alleviate neurovascular compression.

Needle knife acupuncture relieves pain by relaxing and stripping the taut node and cord. This treatment is a novel therapy that combines Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian theory and modern surgical techniques.

Needle knife acupuncture can treat shoulder pain, lower back pain, knee pain and ankle pain.

Thread Embedding Acupuncture

Thread Embedding Acupuncture (TEA) involves inserting medical threads (eg. polydioxanone) into specific points of subcutaneous tissue or muscles. Because TEA provides both physical and chemical stimulation and together with it’s sustained stimulation, it can be used to treat chronic diseases. By inserting medical threads into the body, it creates an aseptic inflammatory reaction which promotes tissue regeneration.

TEA is currently used to treat musculoskeletal conditions such as ankle sprain, should pain, lumbar intervertebral disc herniation and plantar fasciitis. Also, it can be used to treat obesity and sagging skin for cosmetic purposes.
