About Sherpa<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The term Sherpa is derived from the Sherpa Language \u0f64\u0f62\u00a0shar<\/em>\u00a0(east) and\u00a0\u0f54\u00a0pa<\/em>\u00a0(people).<\/p>

It is used to describe a group of people who migrated to Nepal from Eastern Tibet and because Sherpas have live in one of the world\u2019s highest regions for thousands of years (high Himalayan Mountain regions of Nepal), they are thought to have undergone generic adaptations that enables them to gain an advantage when in high altitudes with low oxygen.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Because Sherpas have lived in the high Himalayan Mountain regions for many years, they are naturally advanced mountaineers and experts at local mountainous terrain. Hence, the reason why Sherpas have been a perfect guide for the first expeditions up Mount Everest.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

We named our clinic Sherpa because we want to be the guide when it comes to our patients\u2019 health and well-being.<\/p>

Here at our clinic, we provide full range of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatments rather than just focusing on acupuncture – Hence, we named our clinic TCM rather than acupuncture.<\/p>

Principal TCM Practitioner \/ Chinese Medicine Herbalist<\/h3>

Sejin graduated from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine with a Masters degree in Clinical Medicine. She has worked in both public and private hospitals for 5 years in China before migrating to New Zealand in 2018.\u00a0<\/span>As a second generation Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Sejin managed TCM department together with her mother in a general hospital in Beijing, China.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Sejin has extensive knowledge and clinical experiences in both musculoskeletal and internal disorders and specialises in gynaecology.\u00a0Always putting herself in her patient\u2018s shoes, she endeavours to make a clinic that heals both patient\u2019s body and mind.<\/span><\/p>

Principal TCM Practitioner \/ Chinese Medicine Herbalist<\/h3>

Bogeum studied in China and completed her master\u2019s in Chinese Medicine and worked at a general hospital in Beijing, China. She has accumulated numerous clinical experiences for over 20 years with various treatment methods including that of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Traditional Korean Medicine.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Bogeum\u2019s specialty lies in prescribing herbal medicines by distinguishing the constitutional differences between different types of patients and her primary treatments include pain treatment, growth treatment, infertility, menstrual irregularity, and various internal disorders such as cold, irritable colitis and gastrointestinal disorder. Her specialty treatments include moxibustion, dinosaur acupuncture, Simchen bloodletting, meridian toxin release therapy, acupuncture, and cupping.<\/p>

Sampada Sherchan graduated as a physiotherapist from RGUHS and has over three years of experience working in hospitals and rehabilitation centers in Nepal. She has treated a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and injuries, helping patients regain function, improve mobility, and manage pain effectively.<\/p>

Physiotherapist<\/h3>

Yeji is a New Zealand\u2013trained physiotherapist who graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Auckland University of Technology (AUT). She has a background as a former elite swimmer in Korea, which has given her a strong foundation in movement, performance, and injury rehabilitation.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

She has various clinical experience across cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, inpatient rehabilitation wards, and musculoskeletal private practice. Through these experiences, Yeji has developed strong clinical reasoning skills and a patient-centred approach to managing musculoskeletal and sports-related conditions.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Yeji values a holistic approach to care and enjoys working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to support optimal recovery outcomes. As a new graduate physiotherapist, she is enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to ongoing professional development.<\/p>

William graduated from the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine, and as an ACC-accredited Acupuncturist and a member of NZASA, he specializes in the treatment of acute and chronic pain, non-pain conditions, and stress and lifestyle imbalances.<\/p>

He relies on his palpation skills and touch to understand body imbalances. Combined with gentle needling techniques, he utilizes cupping and acupressure massage (Tuina) to maximize patients\u2019 self-healing mechanisms.<\/p>

Senior TCM Practitioner \/ Chinese Medicine Herbalist<\/h3>

Joy graduated from Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a Master\u2019s degree in Clinical Medicine specializing in Acupuncture and Tuina. She worked in public hospitals in China for three years, obtaining her attending physician qualification. In 2016, she moved to New Zealand, where she is currently registered as a specialist scope of practice in pain with the Chinese Medicine Council of New Zealand.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

She specializes in treating sports injuries, neck and shoulder pain, and lower back and leg pain by using traditional acupuncture, small needle knife therapy, and Tuina. Additionally, based on the theory of “preventing disease before it occurs” and the concept of “harmony between heaven and humanity,” she employs seasonal moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine to address sub-health conditions, chronic diseases, gynecological disorders, and certain difficult cases. She also skillfully applies Liu’s pediatric Tuina techniques to treat children’s colds, chronic coughs, asthma, and digestive system disorders.<\/p>
